Metallic Bonds received a field wear test comparison of the HVOF tungsten carbide (WC) coating applied to actual production components. The HVOF WC coating was compared to a TiCN physical vapor deposited (PVD) coating, conventional heat treating and a specialized gas nitrided heat treating process.
The results indicated that the Metallic Bonds HVOF WC coating was 13 times better than the TiCN PVD coating and 14 times better than conventional heat treating.
Next time you have a surface technology need and are considering a hard surface treatment of a part to improve wear resistance, please consider the wear test results of the Metallic Bonds HVOF tungsten carbide coating.
